In the interest of offering a product based upon designs I've improved upon, as well as saving troopers money, I've decided to start selling my own fan and hearing assist systems.
Here's what I'm offering:
All systems are designed to run off of 5V USB power banks, i.e. rechargeable USB batteries (ex.: travel cell phone chargers), which you supply. This means you don't have to worry about constantly replacing AA batteries when you troop. The banks used should be 5V 1 Amp, although you can use a 2 Amp bank for powering two devices simultaneously (i.e.: fans and hearing assist).
Why trust me?
- I've already made prototype systems for my own bucket which have survived over a dozen troops
- You can see a lot of my prototyping work on this very blog
- I certified on micro miniature soldering in the USMC
- I'm near sighted (this actually makes soldering very easy - no magnifying glass required)
- I have a degree in computer science
- I don't want to piss of my fellow Legion mates ;)
Turnaround is typically 1 - 2 months since I have a full-time job (sometimes with travel) and two young boys, meaning I do the bulk of my soldering at night when the kids are asleep. Consider it like Anovos - you save money but might have to wait a bit while I build it. The difference is that, unlike Anovos these days, I actually deliver :P
Basic Fan System - $40 Shipped
A simple bracket-less fan system with a quick connect between the fans and the power cord with switch.
- A pair of 5V blower fans rated at 3000+ RPM
- 24" leads on fans for easy placement
- Velcro pads to secure fans
- Power/ switch cable with USB-A power input and 6" on switch for easier placement
Hearing Assist PLUS - $80 Shipped
My design includes enhancements over a traditional hearing assist system, including USB power, a built-in power filter to reduce EM noise (when running fans from the same power source), and quick connects on the microphone leads to make installation and helmet maintenance easier.
Designed with microphones that are be placed behind the OTTK earpieces. Requires some modification to your helmet to function to its fullest extent, but if you're running blower fans, a worthwhile investment.
- Mics have quick connects to make mounting and maintenance easier
- USB Power input Includes a built-on low-pass filter, to reduce EM noise if fans are being used on the same USB power bank as the Hearing Assist system
- 24" shielded mic lead wires
- Velcro pads to secure HA module and attached low-pass filter
- 12" USB-A input lead
- Basic helmet speakers
If you don't require these, let me know when you order and I'll subtract $10 from your order.
Bundle - Buy both Fans + Hearing Assist for $110 shipped
Customization:
Since this is a test run, I reserve the right to change prices, but not without warning or good cause (i.e.: increase in parts price or shipping).
